The problem
Growing numbers of Canadians cannot schedule a same-day or next-day doctor’s appointment, while overloaded provincial systems push routine and mental-health needs further out. Employers pay the price through absenteeism, disability claims, and disengaged staff.
How it works
Dialogue’s Integrated Health Platform is a single app where covered members reach an in-house team of health professionals — physicians, nurses, psychologists, social workers, and specialists — 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, from a phone, computer, or tablet. Programs span virtual primary care, mental health, employee and family assistance, occupational health and safety, and women’s health. The company, incorporated in 2016, was the first virtual-care provider to receive the Accreditation Canada Primer award for safety and quality of care.
Pain points
No timely access to family doctors, a maze of separate vendors for EAP, mental health, and occupational health, and workers who need care outside clinic hours.
Business model
Employers and organizations buy access for their people (B2B2C); Dialogue monetizes per-member platform contracts plus add-on assessments — e.g. the Health Panel preventive workup at $499, structured for reimbursement through Health Spending Accounts.
Challenges
Dialogue must show employers measurable health outcomes for the spend, keep utilization high across a broad program suite, and — as a Sun Life-owned unit — prove the acquisition thesis that a virtual-care platform inside an insurer beats standalone telehealth rivals.
