  1. The Bottleneck

    What was broken?

Finding the right doctor in the Gulf meant phone calls, word of mouth, and no reliable directory of who treats what, where, and when.

  2. The Move

    Why it worked

Built the most complete bookable directory of private doctors in Qatar and the UAE, then sold clinics the marketing and booking layer on top — owning both sides of the appointment.

  3. The Trap

    Battle scars

Doctor directories commoditise fast against Vezeeta and Okadoc; clinics multi-home; and scaling meant pairing a consumer booking product with enterprise EMR depth it didn't have alone.

The problem

A patient with a sick child in Doha faced a familiar maze: no trusted directory of who treats what, clinic phone lines that never pick up, and zero sense of which doctor is actually available this week.

How it works

Meddy built verified profiles for private doctors across Qatar and the UAE — specialty, location, reviews, live availability — and let patients book in a few taps. On the other side, clinics got a dashboard managing those bookings plus marketing tools that made their doctors discoverable and their schedules full.

Pain points

Invisible clinics, endless phone tag, and patients defaulting to whichever doctor a relative happened to know.

Business model

Clinics and hospitals paid for patient acquisition and presence: marketing subscriptions and booking-driven packages that tied Meddy’s revenue to filled appointment slots.

Challenges

Regional booking giants Vezeeta and Okadoc chased the same clinics, providers listed on multiple platforms at once, and Meddy’s consumer booking strength stopped short of the deep hospital EMR systems enterprise clients wanted.
