The problem
Egyptian households buy bread, milk, and eggs fresh every morning — a ritual no generalist e-grocer served, since their slots start hours after breakfast.
How it works
Breadfast owned 5–8am: order by app at night, wake up to fresh bread at the door. That daily habit — nearly a million orders a month for 300,000+ active users — funded expansion into full grocery, own-brand bakeries, dark fulfillment centers across Cairo, Giza, Alexandria, and Mansoura, and Breadfast Pay, a fintech arm offering savings, withdrawals and branded cards. The company runs AI across operations to forecast demand, manage inventory and route riders, and in September 2026 added Breadfast Food restaurant delivery inside the same app on the same logistics network.
Pain points
Fresh staples demanded a dawn trip to the bakery; perishables spoil on thin margins; and each new vertical — most recently restaurant delivery — enters a crowded market against entrenched incumbents.
Business model
Vertically integrated grocery economics — baking quality control through last-mile delivery on owned infrastructure, with $150M+ in 2024 revenue — plus Breadfast Pay financial services and incremental restaurant orders sweat the same customer base and rider network harder.
Challenges
Fresh food spoils and margins are thin; each fulfillment center is capex up front; and BNPL-style credit in a volatile macro needs iron underwriting to avoid becoming the business instead of the feature.

Latest — September 2026
On 14–15 September 2026 Breadfast officially launched Breadfast Food, a restaurant-delivery service inside the existing Breadfast app. After a beta period the company said saw strong customer adoption, users can order from a curated selection of restaurants alongside groceries, bakery, coffee and pharmacy products, using the same technology, logistics and delivery network. The company said it plans to grow restaurant partners and extend the service across more Egyptian governorates as part of its everyday-convenience super-app strategy.
