  1. The Bottleneck

    What was broken?

Syrian youth faced a double gap: formal education disconnected from what employers need, and purely online courses with no hands-on practice or local route into work.

  2. The Move

    Why it worked

Hybrid model — flexible online, in-person, and blended learning through a digital platform plus a growing network of local training centers — paired with a regional EdTech leader's content library and mentor network.

  3. The Trap

    Battle scars

Operating across damaged infrastructure, uneven connectivity, and a shifting labor market; converting training completions into actual employment at scale.

The problem

Syria’s young people were stuck between two broken options: formal education that taught theory employers didn’t need, and online courses that offered certificates with no practice and no local path into a job — all while the labor market kept shifting under a war-damaged economy.

How it works

Doroob is a Syrian startup built around learning for employment rather than learning for credentials. Learners move between flexible online lessons, in-person sessions, and blended tracks delivered through a digital platform wired to a growing network of physical training centers. In June 2026 Doroob announced a strategic partnership with eYouth, one of the region’s leading EdTech platforms — combining eYouth’s extensive digital library and trainer-mentor network with Doroob’s on-the-ground centers to develop and expand employment-focused programs for Syrian youth.

Pain points

Skill mismatches between graduates and employers, purely online providers with no hands-on component, and a generation trying to enter the workforce without guidance on what the market actually wants.

Business model

Enrollment-driven training programs, amplified by the eYouth alliance: a bigger content catalogue, experienced mentors, and an employer-facing pipeline that turns completions into job placements — eYouth’s network has already helped 700,000 graduates access opportunities across 21 countries (entArabi, Jun 2026).

Challenges

Training centers depend on physical infrastructure in a country rebuilding it; connectivity is uneven; and the hardest metric — graduates actually hired — has to be proven cohort after cohort in an unstable labor market.

Funding

  • No funding round is publicly documented; Doroob’s growth lever to date is partnerships, notably the eYouth alliance announced in June 2026.

Latest — June 2026

On 11 June 2026 eYouth announced the strategic partnership with Doroob to develop and expand employment-focused training for young Syrians, pairing eYouth’s digital library with Doroob’s local training-center network.
